Book Drop
Providing Free Books to Elementary Children in Underserved Communities
Operation Book Drop is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing access to books for elementary-age children attending Title I schools and living in low-income communities. By collecting and distributing free, high-quality books, we help children build home libraries that support early literacy, academic success, and a lifelong love of reading.
Why Access to Books at Home Matters
Children who grow up with books in their homes are more likely to develop strong reading skills and succeed academically. Many families in low-income communities lack access to age-appropriate books, which can limit literacy development outside the classroom. Operation Book Drop works to close this gap by putting free books directly into the hands of children who need them most.
How Operation Book Drop Works
Our primary focus is on elementary children (K-5) who live in underserved or low-income communities and have limited access to books at home. These children often face significant barriers to literacy development due to economic hardship, lack of educational resources, or underfunded schools. By providing them with high-quality, age-appropriate books, we aim to nurture a love of reading early in life and help close the literacy gap. Our efforts are centered on reaching children who might not otherwise own books, empowering them with the tools they need to build strong reading habits and succeed academically.
