PROVIDING FREE BOOKS TO ELEMENTARY CHILDREN IN UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES
Operation Book Drop is a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to high-quality books for elementary-age children attending
Title I schools in the Richmond area and other low-income communities.
By collecting and distributing free books, we help children build home libraries that strengthen early literacy and inspire a lifelong love of reading.
We believe every child deserves the opportunity to own books of their own.
THE SOLUTION
HOW OPERATION BOOK DROP WORKS
Our primary focus is elementary-age children (K–5) living in underserved and low-income communities who have limited access to books at home.
Many of these children face barriers to literacy development due to economic hardship, limited educational resources, or underfunded schools.
By providing high-quality, age-appropriate books, we aim to foster a love of reading early in life and help close the literacy gap.
Our efforts focus on reaching children who may not otherwise own books, empowering them with the tools to build strong reading habits and succeed academically.

Books are sorted and packed by grade level, making them ready for each child -
